ACI Study Forecasts Significant Growth in Global Airport Traffic

According to a recent study by ACI World, aviation traffic will reach new records in the next two decades with solid growth numbers in passenger numbers, aircraft movements and cargo. These solid increases will without a doubt have a strong impact on airport and airline operations.
 
 
The "ACI World Airport Traffic Forecasts 2023-2052," reveals promising trends for global air travel. The study forecasts significant growth across key metrics: 

In 2024, passenger numbers are expected to increase to 9.7 billion passengers. Looking ahead, the study predicts a near doubling of passenger traffic by 2042, soaring to close to 25 billion by 2052. 

International passenger traffic is leading the recovery with an expected 14% increase in 2024. Domestic travel is also set to rise to a comparable level. 

Aircraft movements are forecasted to rise steadily from 98.2 million in 2023 to 106.7 million in 2024 and are projected to reach 209.2 million by 2052. Cargo volumes are also expected to grow significantly, reaching 178.1 million metric tons by 2042.
